Before completing the study tour, we wrote: The issues to be analyzed during the study tour are these. What kinds of conditions help emerging companies gain market shares and reach global markets in the IT business (telecom, computers, new media & electronics)? Can we learn from their way of work? Does IT enter into the picture; and how is the propensity to succeed change in the current world of ”The New Economy” and the Internet?

Over the years, TELDOK has made a number of study tours to document and analyze, mostly for a Swedish audience, early experience of advanced use of novel IT applications. Based on site visits and seminars at a recent study tour, participants conclude (in Swedish) that small and medium-sized companies in the ”industrial districts” of northern Italy seem to be able to work and reach globally on the basis of strong informal networks and a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit.

The schedule for the study tour can be found here.

TELDOK is being expertly helped in setting up the exhaustive meetings agenda by Mr Yehuda Hefer, Senior Partner of Honeycomb Ventures Ltd; and by Dr Arnon Perry, CEO Lahav Executive Education, The Leon Recanati Graduate School of Business, Tel Aviv University.

Resources for the trip open in a separate browser window.

NETO HI-TECH, Israel’s High Technology Directory, lists and categorizes Israeli high-tech companies.

The Incubators Program, a Ministry of Industry and Trade initiative for nurturing startup companies in Israel, is described at www.incubators.org.il and www.matimop.org.il.

The topicality of the imminent study tour is apparent, as news media recently have reported on Israeli incubators and IT companies. The Swedish-language daily Dagens Nyheter has done so, and The Jerusalem Post has an online section devoted to ”Digital Israel”.
